A few years ago, I had the evening meeting of alumini at Paul, Weiss, which was one of the top 10 American law firms, at the Chosun Hotel in Seoul. It was once selected as one of the law firms for the Columbia Law School students to eager to work at  in the United States.

At that time, I jointed Paul and Weiss  to pursue a kind of joint project in relation to a listing on the New York Stock Exchange. I went to the winter of 1994 and worked as a lawyer at a so-called Wall Street law firm until 1995, receiving formal salaries from the New York office, and even a lawyer's office and secretarial support.

At that time, the apartment was right across from Paul and Weiss, and the monthly rent for 1 bedroom was $2,000, which was quite expensive at the time. Paul and Weiss had a health club in the basement of the company building because the welfare benefits for lawyers were good, and the company paid 50% of the annual fee so that I enjoyed both health training and swimming.

Also, as Broadway was located right next to it, I watched numerous plays, operas, and concerts on weekdays and weekends. And on weekends, he rented a car and traveled all over the United States from Canada. Looking back now, it was a very happy time. and there was an office in Washington DC., so I asked Korean lawyers who worked there, and after finishing my life in the New York office, I desperately wanted a law firm life there.

Knowing this feeling, he willingly gave permission and was supposed to go there after living in New York, but unfortunately I have to get back to Seoul. At that time, Paul and Weiss were in a situation where they were starting to act on behalf of Korea Telecom and further advising the Korean Embassy, so it was very sad. Working was one of road which I could not take, which make me regret so far. Anyway, I would like to take this opportunity to once again thank a Korean Attorney of the Washington office for giving me a precious opportunity at that time. And I'm also just so sorry. How great would it be to be given such an opportunity to me now. But time has already passed 25 years or more.
