When I was a visiting lawyer at the German decent law firm, I took a tour of the beautiful Heidelberg University, which is a short distance from Mannheim and famous for The Prince's First Love, etc., and experience Heidelberg Castle, famous for its beautiful old castle, the Charles Theodor Bridge, and the famous 'Philosopher's Path' where Goethe, etc. walked.

It took only 10 minutes from Mannheim Central Station to Heidelberg Central Station. When we got off the train, it was raining. This rain reminded me that Professor Kwon who is one of my close friends had said, "It rains a lot in Germany, because of this, the trees are very fertile."

With the aid of the information center near the station, I took bus number 33. We took the cable car to get a panoramic view of Heidelberg. It was impressive that the gear was mounted to prevent slipping due to the steep slope. Together with an elderly British couple who came to attend the seminar, we talked about tensions on the Korean Peninsula and Britain's brexit. The British man who used to work as journalist recommended me for crossing the famous Charles Theodor Bridge and visiting the tower and the pre-World War II concert hall. In other words, he advised me to enjoy the wonderful history journey by walking the famous 'Philosopher's Path'.

After that, I came down to the old castle area and it was so beautiful. The appearance of the old castle, the blue river, the houses and buildings below, and the surrounding bushes seemed to blend together to create a stage for a literary work. It was like showing me what a beauty it truly is. Constructing a magnificent building like the one above on a mountainside was mysterious, and above all, it came to me with a beautiful and impressive appearance that was reminiscent of classical literature as a beautiful old castle.

Later, walking across the famous Karol Theodor Bridge, I was amazed again. The bridge itself was considered a work of art. I decided to go up close to the top of the mountain by following the 'Philosopher's Path'. The reason why this path is called the 'Philosopher's Path' is because of the atmosphere that makes even ordinary people become immersed in meditation naturally enough to become a philosopher if they walk this path. There were an occasional resting places on the way, so I looked out over the Neckar River. It took a lot more time than I thought and I thought about giving up a few times in the middle, but fortunately, I finally came to the tower and the outdoor concert hall. Unfortunately, it was not so impressive to the extent that I had a special feeling. However, overall waling this area lead  me to feel why philosophy had developed in Germany so greatly.

I had spent too much time on the ‘Philosopher’s Path’, so I hurriedly searched for the University of Heidelberg. The back alleys parallel to the Neckar River were lined with shops and restaurants. Almost everyone seemed to be tourists. It is famous as old castle and old town, but now it seems that it has become a more like tourist city, so it gave me a mixed feeling somewhat .

It was a bit disappointing, probably due to expectations that it is Germany's oldest and high-quality university. It was divided into several places in the city center, so it was difficult to tell which was the university and which was the downtown building. In particular, the law school is located separately and the building doesn't seem to be that big, so I was suspicious of whether I found out the wrong one. In any case, it was a pity that, despite the fact that it was a famous university such as producing many Nobel Prize winners, it was rather distracting and did not feel stable and impressive as I might expected. However, the appearance of the lecturers and students conducting the seminar inside of the law school building just in time was bright and full of confidence, and reduced my disappointed feeling.

Although the sized of the city was not very large as a university city, it provided a fresh impression and pleasure with the exquisite harmony of old castles and old forests, the best university, Charles Theodor Bridge, mansions on the hill, and the Neckar River. Naturally, classical music, art, and sculpture coexist with everyday life, and I felt a sense of mysterious happiness as I went through a time travel where I was not only absorbed into the literature and art itself but also immersed in them.
