What kind of meaning does the travel give to us? Personally, travel is one of best input to me, along with reading a book.  

Saint Augustinus told that a world is a book, and if someone does not travel at all, it will be same as if he reads only one page. Further, someone told that travel is not a matter of money, but a matter of braveness.

Why is the travel so meaningful?

It will expose ourselves to new challenges, which will teach ourselves and show different cuture, way of thinking, worlds, etc.

Further, Virginia Wolf shouted that the reason why she needs to make money is to enjoy a travel, and the degree of money will be to the extent she afford the travel. Personally, I totally agreee with her in that life is a journey and I would like to fully enjoy the travel all over the world for my life time.
